At the height of Rembrandt’s success as a portrait artist in 1630s Amsterdam, he takes on young Jewish studio apprentice, Samuel. The boy’s struggle to break free of his family’s rigid expectations lead the painter to wrestle with his defiance of artistic convention with his daring masterpiece “The Night Watch”, and a lifelong pursuit of his own vision.
